A throw back to a Thatcherite Government riding rough shod across the Public (Sector) vs. A tax against those reckless enough to drive us all to ruin. No contest. Spread the word, good ideas always catch on. Please visit Million Voices for Public Services and sign up there too. Show the Government that we're sick of being treated like a labotomised cash cow, add your voice!!

    Great, great, great, great Idea.

    Highest time for this tax.

A german scientist for politics ans economy said:

"The next world war will not be a war between states.
It will be a war poor against rich.
And in fact of Milliards of poor, the rich will lose anyway."

Has anyone written legislation for the Robin Hood Tax?
  • The Robin Hood Tax is a good idea. However, taxation is not necessary in the 21st century even though it raises billions.

A far better approach is to have enough created electronically (to avoid serious inflation)to deal with many social, economic, and political problems. This sounds like funny money but what people do not realize is that banks create it electroncally as a debt or loans with interest. In other words, funny money which is REPAYABLE! This is known in economics as credit creation.

Realize that most of the money supply is ELECTRONIC DATA.

    Hello,

I'm an Oxfam Project Leader from the University of Bath and really want to do some campaigning on this issue. Are there any mock up flyers that you could post to us and/or email us a version?

Thanks for any help you can give,

    Hazell
  • Robin Hood
Thank you Hazell. I have passed your details to the Oxfam South West campaigns office who should be able to help. Good luck with the campaigning, please let us know how it goes.
  • This is a bloody good idea.

I've added the campaign video to the front page of the news section of my website.

Hopefully the traffic we get should see this and spread the word just a little more.

    I'm a very merry man.
  • Hi,

I have added the campaign video to my website's video page, added links to your website from different pages on my website and emailed my MP to ask him to attend your Parliamentary lobby.

    Cllr Phil Harris.
    Halton Borough Council.
  • Robin Hood
Thank you very much Cllr Harris and welcome to our band of merry folk. For eveyone's information: clicking on the name 'Phil Harris' above will take you to Cllr Harris' web page.
  • Maria Tierney
Can I just say, being the twit that I am, I thought I had joined your merry men by clicking YES after the video and then doing the Facebook thing. It took me a while to add myself to your number on the right of the screen. Maybe you'd have even more followers if you made provision for us techno-peasants! :)

Bill Nighy should be singing this on a video:
Look into my bank - you will see
    What wealth means to me
Search my car - search my home
If you find any there it'll be luck, old boy

Don't tell me it's not worth bribin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth lyin' for
    You know it's true
Everything you do - You do it for you

Look into my tax - you will find
    There's somethin' there to hide
Don’t take me as I am - take my wife
I would give it all - I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
    I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
    Ya know it's true
Everything you do - You do it for you

There's no stuff - like gold stuff
And no other - could give me more love
There's no care - unless its there
All the time - all my way

Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth bribin' for
    I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would spite for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you

    Ya know it's true
Everything you do - You do it for you
  • Great idea, some people need to find out that they can't run the world after all.
  • andy turner
For god sake increase this 20 times to 1 full percentage point. Hardly a usurious figure considering their profits so far..........

It's supremely perverse that 10,000 London City Bankers are about to each benefit from a £1M pay and bonus package because they have just had a good year's trading. The reason they have done so well is because they started the year with a market that was depressed as a result of their negligent actions. So they are actually benefitting from their earlier ineptitude . Is that really how a reward structure should operate ? Especially as they have forced upon the rest of us a legacy of money problems which we cannot easily overcome as we do not reap the same rich rewards as the City cowboys.
  • Patricia Puttnam
Stupendous Idea and like so many world changing ideas is simple. Let's get some heat under it and have the Banks on the run.
  • Ben
Uhhh. How can a tax raise a significant amount of money if the tax is not significant in and of itself? Logical fallacy much?
