Survey by Astbury Marsden shows City bonuses on course to be 24% of basic salary this year (salary levels themselves have risen 12%). This increases to as much as 70% of basic salary for Managing Directors, equivalent to an average bonus of £166,000.

Nicolas Sarkozy announced in Cannes today that more countries back a Financial Transaction Tax.
