Top European Tax Chief, Algridas Semeta and Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Chris Leslie MP, travelled to Washington DC to promote the EU transactions tax for both the US and UK.

Torfaen becomes first council to pass a Robin Hood tax motion

Torfaen became the first council in the UK to pass a motion calling on the government to implement a Robin Hood Tax swiftly followed by the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Islington.

The top EU tax chief called the decision “historic” and “a major milestone in tax history”. The tax would raise £30 billion a year, revenue which could help those hit hardest by the financial crisis
