In Germany a large group of organisations including unions, churches, Attac Germany, environment and international development groups plus the political parties, the Social Democrats, Left Party and Green Party, have all come together to support taxing the banks.
The campaign supports a financial transaction tax to raise money to help the poorest at home and abroad, and tackle climate change. It is pushing for a global FTT but also supports one at a European level.
The German campaign has already had a huge success. Following France's lead, Germany looks to be implementing an FTT through a joint method of 'Enhanced Cooperation' with various other EU countries.
